COSTUMING

I had the opportunity to spend three years as a technician in the Eastern Michigan University costume shop. During this time, I learned an immense amount about pulling, altering, and building costumes. Featured here are a few of the garments that I spent the most time on.

Besides working as the technician, I also acted as a teaching assistant for the intro costume course for two and a half years. I helped teach students to sew by hand and machine, which included: ruffles, bias tape, hems, seams, hand stitching, buttons, snaps, hook and bar, thread loop/swing tacks, and constructing a functional cinching bag with a homemade appliqué.
